Motorline setup guide

Motorline is an Online Store 2.0 Shopify theme. This guide explains how to install it, connect store content, and prepare the storefront for launch.

Motorline is published and supported by Carbon Supply Studio:

  • Support email: support@carbonsupplyco.com
  • Documentation: https://themes.carbonsupplyco.com/motorline/
  • Support form: https://themes.carbonsupplyco.com/support/

Install the theme

  1. In Shopify admin, open Online Store > Themes.
  2. Select Add theme > Upload zip file and upload the Motorline theme ZIP.
  3. Open Customize on the unpublished theme.
  4. Configure the theme and preview it before publishing.

The package contains no products, customer data, licensed demo photography, app configuration, or seller-specific business information.

Complete the Shopify setup first

Before customizing the theme, configure the store's products, collections, navigation, policies, payments, shipping, customer accounts, Markets, and languages in Shopify admin. Motorline displays this Shopify data but does not create it.

Theme settings

Open Theme settings in the editor to configure:

  • Brand: favicon and shared brand presentation.
  • Colors: global page, surface, text, border, and accent colors.
  • Typography: Shopify-hosted heading and body fonts.
  • Layout: shared page width and spacing behavior.
  • Social media: merchant-owned social links.
  • Cart: free-shipping threshold and cart presentation.

Review color contrast and text legibility after changing any palette.

Header and navigation

In the Header section, select the logo and Shopify navigation menu. Available settings include transparent-header behavior, sticky behavior, mobile logo alignment, and account, search, and cart controls.

Motorline supports standard nested navigation and an optional mega menu:

  1. Create a top-level navigation item in Content > Menus.
  2. Enter that item’s title exactly in the Header's mega-menu trigger setting.
  3. Add Mega menu collection blocks.
  4. Choose a collection and optionally override its title or image.
  5. Select the desktop column count and verify the mobile accordion.

If the trigger title does not exactly match a top-level menu item, the normal menu remains in place.

Footer content is assembled from independent blocks. Add, remove, and reorder brand text, menus, newsletter, contact information, payment icons, social links, and spacer blocks in the theme editor.

The free-shipping bar is located in the Overlay group. It can be enabled, disabled, and configured without editing the footer.

Home page and sections

Use the editor's Add section control to assemble the home page. Motorline includes hero, slideshow, featured products, featured product, collection tiles, image with text, rich text, trust content, FAQs, newsletter, blog posts, video, Custom Liquid, and app sections.

Demo content is illustrative. Replace it with content and media that you own or are licensed to use.

Product setup

Create products and variants in Shopify admin. Add prices, compare-at prices, inventory rules, option values, swatches, media, descriptions, and shipping data there.

The product template supports:

  • Variant and quantity selection
  • Sold-out and unavailable states
  • Unit pricing and quantity rules
  • Accelerated checkout
  • Gift-card recipient fields
  • Selling-plan display when supplied by a compatible app
  • Pickup availability when Shopify locations and inventory are configured
  • Product tabs and collapsible information
  • Related and complementary recommendations
  • Images, video, external video, and 3D media
  • App blocks and Custom Liquid blocks

Shipping estimates shown by the theme are merchant-configurable content. Keep them consistent with the store's shipping policy and checkout configuration.

Collections, search, and filters

Create collections and assign products in Shopify admin. Configure compatible filters with Shopify Search & Discovery. The collection and search templates support sorting and storefront filtering; the header also includes predictive search.

Markets and languages

Country and language selectors appear when multiple countries or languages are active in Shopify Markets. Customer-facing theme strings live in locales/en.default.json. Add locale files or use Shopify's translation tools for additional languages. Merchant-entered text and product data require their own translations.

Contact and newsletter forms

Assign the contact template to a page for the native Shopify contact form. Newsletter blocks use Shopify's customer form. Email delivery, marketing consent, and automations depend on the merchant's Shopify and email-marketing configuration.

Test before publishing

Verify at least the following on desktop and mobile:

  • Header, menus, mega menu, search, account, and cart controls
  • Product variants, sold-out states, prices, media, pickup, and accelerated checkout
  • Cart quantities, removal, discounts, notes, terms, and checkout
  • Collection filters, sorting, search, and empty states
  • Contact and newsletter success and error states
  • Country and language selectors where enabled
  • Keyboard navigation, focus indicators, text contrast, and zoom
  • Long titles, long option values, missing media, and large carts
